Space1 Diesel Spaceship

Connecting the RTA96-C, the largest engine in the world, to a spaceship? The mechanical monstrosity is available in 6 through 14 cylinder versions, all are inline engines. The engine alone weighs in at 2,300 tons and is capable of delivering 109,000 horsepower. By comparison, a single SpaceX Merlin engine weights 470kg (1036 lbs) with 189,964 pounds of thrust which is 8,635 horsepower. 1 HP is about 22 pounds of force. These engines were designed primarily for very large container ships but similar large diesel engines run large ships of all kinds. Ship owners like the combination of a  single engine and single propeller for reasons of efficiency and cost of production vs operation of these mega-vessels. As ships continue to get larger with new generations of larger container ships being built each year shippers like Emma’s owner, A.P. Møller – Mærsk, will need a bigger engines to propel them. Going retro-punk? If the oil industry had their way, would space ships run on massive mechanical-stroke gasoline engines of several cylinders with internal combustion methods of antiquity? But is this possible? Rocket engines already run on kerosine, not too far displaced from a gasoline or diesel formula.

Luckily the space industry is not governed entirely by gasoline and diesel fuel from big oil industries. Though, massive engines for the space industry such as the Raptor by SpaceX still run on carbon based fossil fuels such as methane with other engines using kerosine.

By the additive numbers, nine Merlin SpaceX engines are at 77,715 horsepower while a single RTA96-C delivers 109,000 horsepower. So why not stick a single RTA96-C on a large rocket? Perhaps the issues are MTBF rating, weight, and size.

Elon Musk of SpaceX is contemplating a rocket so large, that it may become the biblical Noah's Ark delivery of all life to other worlds like Mars.

A rocket this large could help reboot all of humanity, transporting life in twos like the bible's story of Noah's Ark.

The great flood could perhaps be compared to a large asteroid of an extinction event. Populating Mars with more than humans. i.e. a complete eco system can help reboot civilization. It can help preserve almost extinct species and give humanity a greater chance of survival.

Space1 Ocean Rocket Launch Advantages

Forward thinker and bold genius Elon Musk of SpaceX has the mindset to suggest the future construction of Starship 2.0 with a diameter of 18-meters and presumably a corresponding height of 240 meters. The fleet of rockets from SpaceX show a series of rockets increasing in size. Starship with the Super Heavy booster is larger than the Saturn 5 Moon rocket that took men to the Moon. By the time SpaceX gets to the development of Starship 2.0 and the reality of launching it, the massive high pressure force with fire and fiery of such a launch and the blast from at least a hundred Raptor engines will likely mandate an ocean launch site, away from people, homes, structures and traffic. These are the advantages of equatorial ocean-based platform launches

1) The rotational speed of the Earth is greatest at the equator, providing an extra launch "boost."

2) The need for a "plane change" to the zero degree inclination of geostationary orbit is eliminated, providing a major extra launch "boost."

3) This allows 17.5%-25% more mass to be launched to geostationary orbit than the same rocket launched from Cape Canaveral, which is at 28.5 degrees north latitude.

Space1 Rocket Launch at Sea

Sea Launch was established in 1995 by Norway, Russian, Ukraine and the United States, but did not launch a rocket until 1999. It was managed by Boeing with other shareholder participation. As of December 2015, Roscosmos and Energia were attempting to find a buyer for the Sea Launch assets, due to the high cost of infrastructure maintenance of approximately US$30 million per year. In September 2016, S7 Group, owner of S7 Airlines announced they were purchasing Sea Launch. Reference

In 2018, S7 Group announced the closing of the transaction for the purchase of the asset complex of the Sea Launch project. The completion of the procedure means that S7 Group has become a rightful owner of the maritime launch platform and has obtained all necessary permits from the US regulating bodies. Reference

SPACE1's idea for an efficient modernized lower cost and up to date high tech version of a starter Rocket Space Nation is a superyacht ship, much like the Flying Fish as an example. The FF undoubtedly is equipped with a launch pad for helicopters and the owner can mod for the addition of rockets, and multiple levels for habitation. Added are a space control center, a ship command center, space for sleeping and living, kitchen gallery, bath, a space for a rocket science lab, and tracking communications equipment and antennas. The independent rocket space nation ship can potentially support multiple people for an unspecified extended period of time.

In this yacht ship version, the ship is driven by the ship's maritime professional Captain cruising at 18 knots to the specified ocean site, the rocket is launched by space commanders, and the command center initiates rocket space travel guiding and tracking. From an expansion point of view, the ship can harbor a helicopter to rapidly ferry passengers and staff to and from land, for determined visits and residence on the independent ship yacht "island." In a typical method often used by SpaceX, components, and even the ship can be leased as needed for periods of defined time matching various rocket flight launch windows. As FF charter rates are $3,224,000 per year (lower than Sea Launch's 30 million a year), Rocket Space Nation would undoubtedly buy, build, or rebuild their own ship to specified designs.

Space1 Rocket Engine Reliability

It took five F-1 rocket engines on the Saturn 5 Moon rocket, but the complexity and expense was astronomical. SPACE1 uses a simplified and reliable one engine with the power for space travel.

Making Rocket Engines Safe
It seems there is no limit of the number of rocket engines that space companies are willing to put on their rockets. However, as the number of rocket engines increase, so does the risk of failure. This increases the need for redundancy and more engines to compensate for potential engine failures.

SPACE1 is the only space industry, private or otherwise, which has the original Safety Rocket. It you plan to go up into space, tour the final frontier, or relocate off-planet, be sure to choose the reliability of a Safety Rocket if human life is valued.

SPACE1 uses the HRE Herculean Rocket Engine which can undergo rapid printing for ease of manufacturing. With a printer on the Moon or Mars, engines could be rapidly printed to build up a Lunar and Martian base fleet of rockets. The HRE aces functioning with no moving parts, thus making the system ultimately dependable and reliable.

In the design, the nozzle is dimensioned for the most effective functioning and engineered for the absence of degradations such as errant harmonics and vibrations. One size fits all makes the most effective rocket engine with easy interfacing. The Herculean engine has a case history of no failures and 100% reliability. SPACE1 rockets utilize only one HRE given that its thrust ratio power has satisfied all the needs of space travel. HRE uses Patonic fuel which can be manufactured on other worlds or gathered in its free hydroxylated form on the Earth.

The complexity of the Apollo F-1 is outlined by NASA as follows:
The F-1 engine has a complex ignition sequence which will be described here.  First, a description of the engine. A large combustion chamber and bell have an injector plate at the top, through which RP-1 fuel and LOX are injected at high pressure. Above the injector is the LOX dome which also transmits the force of the thrust from the engine to the rocket's structure. A single-shaft turbopump is mounted beside the combustion chamber. The turbine is at the bottom and is driven by the exhaust gas from burning RP-1 and LOX in a fuel-rich mixture in a gas generator. After powering the turbine, the exhaust gases pass through a heat exchanger, then to a wrap-around exhaust manifold which feeds it into the periphery of the engine bell. The final task for these hot gases is to cool and protect the nozzle extension from the far hotter exhaust of the main engine itself. Above the turbine, on the same shaft, is the fuel pump with two inlets from the fuel tank and two outlets going, via shut-off valves, to the injector plate. A line from one of these 'feeds' supplies the gas generator with fuel. Fuel is also used within the engine as a lubricant and as a hydraulic working fluid, though before launch, RJ-1 ramjet fuel is supplied from the ground for this purpose. At the top of the turbopump shaft is the LOX pump with a single, large inlet in-line with the turboshaft axis. This pump also has two outlet lines, with valves, to feed the injector plate. One line also supplies LOX to the gas generator. The interior lining of the combustion chamber and engine bell consists of a myriad of pipework through which a large portion of the fuel supply is fed. This cools the chamber and bell structure while also pre-warming the fuel. Lastly, an igniter, containing a cartridge of hypergolic fluid with burst diaphragms at either end, is in the high pressure fuel circuit and has its own inject point in the combustion chamber. This fluid is triethylboron with 10-15% triethylaluminium. At T minus 8.9 seconds, a signal from the automatic sequencer fires four pyrotechnic devices. Two of them cause the fuel-rich turbine exhaust gas to ignite when it enters the engine bell. Another begins combustion within the gas generator while the fourth ignites the exhaust from the turbine. Links are burned away by these igniters to generate an electrical signal to move the start solenoid. The start solenoid directs hydraulic pressure from the ground supply to open the main LOX valves. LOX begins to flow through the LOX pump, starting it to rotate, then into the combustion chamber. The opening of both LOX valves also causes a valve to allow fuel and LOX into the gas generator, where they ignite and accelerate the turbine. Fuel and LOX pressures rise as the turbine gains speed. The fuel-rich exhaust from the gas generator ignites in the engine bell to prevent backfiring and burping of the engine. The increasing pressure in the fuel lines opens a valve, the igniter fuel valve, letting fuel pressure reach the hypergol cartridge which promptly ruptures. Hypergolic fluid, followed by fuel, enters the chamber through its port where it spontaneously ignites on contact with the LOX already in the chamber. Rising combustion-induced pressure on the injector plate actuates the ignition monitor valve, directing hydraulic fluid to open the main fuel valves. These are the valves in the fuel lines between the turbopump and the injector plate. The fuel flushes out ethylene glycol which had been preloaded into the cooling pipework around the combustion chamber and nozzle. The heavy load of ethylene glycol mixed with the first injection of fuel slows the build-up of thrust, giving a gentler start. Fluid pressure through calibrated orifices completes the opening of the fuel valves and fuel enters the combustion chamber where it burns in the already flaming gases. The exact time that the main fuel valves open is sequenced across the five engines to spread the rise in applied force that the structure of the rocket must withstand. The thrust [rises] during the start-up of each engine. It takes two seconds for full performance to be attained on all engines once the first has begun increasing. The engines are started in a staggered 1-2-2 sequence so that the rocket's structure would be spared a single large load increase, with the centre engine being the first to start. The outboard engines exhibit a hiccup in their build-up due to the ingestion of helium from the pogo suppression system installed in each one. The centre engine does not have this installed. As the flow of fuel and LOX rises to maximum, the chamber pressure, and therefore thrust, is monitored to confirm that the required force has been achieved. With the turbopump at full speed, fuel pressure exceeds hydraulic pressure supplied from ground equipment. Check valves switch the engine's hydraulic supply to be fed from the rocket's fuel instead of from the ground.

Creating a future country and large cities in the middle of the ocean is a piece of cake. What could possibly go wrong? Famous last words or not? SPACE1 investigates potential deep danger.

Let's start now with the investigation of potential disasters.

Killer Rogue Waves
The giant waves pack tons of weight and crushing capabilities. They come completely unannounced and can cause huge damage. Rogue waves may originate from under water earthquakes that displace massive amounts of water. A massive water wave can drop down thousands of tons of water onto a structure in the ocean and cause complete demolition.

Typhoon Weather
Typhoon weather can bring big wind and storms filled with lightning, fierce structural damaging storms causing water surges, tremendous destructive wind, and massive amounts of rain.

Failed Anchoring
Given the fierceness of ocean currents, storms, wind, waves, and aging of materials, there is a strong possibility of failed anchoring.

Free Drift
This is a nightmare for inhabitants that go away on hiatus travel and return some days later only to find nothing in the same position where the space nation once existed. It had simply free drifted away, given the strong currents of ocean water in the Pacific that can overcome the anchoring system.

Isolation
Initially out in the middle of the Pacific, there is no cell phone service, no serving satellites, no land line phones, no 911 medical emergency system, no mail, and a chartered boat trip to the closest country could be weeks in duration and the better half of a thousand miles away.

Maintenance
Salt water has significant corrosiveness with many materials and routine maintenance may include cleaning, adjusting, calibrating systems and providing lock downs as needed.

Repairs
Things may break from wearing out, damage caused by ocean water salt, rusting and corroding, fraying and breaking of land yards and tie downs, harm from strong wave action, wind action on the surface, breakage due to storms and other anomalies.

Earthquakes
The ocean bed floor is entirely susceptible to very strong damaging earthquakes that can cause killer waves, tsunami, strong forward and reverse ocean currents, turbulent waters.

Platforms in contact with the ocean are prone to springing leaks and ruptures.

If the island structure is not maintained, immediately repaired, and periodically inspected, it could succumb to island sinking.

Massive rain could produce global island flooding if the drainage system is not effective.

Excessive Rain
Excessive rain in the ocean is a concern, where the sky can drop 36-inches of rain in an hour.

In the middle of the ocean, the spectacular future design of Rocket Space City is being prepared as a rising mobile independent country platform to launch rockets unencumbered by unending political politics, enormous red tape trails, and jumping through hoops to satisfy transient local, city, state and federal governments.

Floating countries need to be stabilized so they don't float away, given the often very strong ocean currents and wind. Stabilizing the artificial space island during rocket launches is also important. Deep ocean maxes out at about the flying height of a jet airliner at 35.000 feet deep. The depth ocean averages 2.7 miles. It's not a simple matter of dropping down a weighted anchor to stay in one spot.

Humanoido has invented the stabilizing reef anchoring system, i.e. specific anchoring to underwater land mass at mapped locations along the Pacific Ocean that exist just below the surface. The reef can be a ridge of jagged rock, coral, or top base-sand just below the surface of the sea. Other references to anchoring points include a shoal, bar, sandbar, sandbank or spit.

Last week SPACE1 and its enforcement security entity - Space Securities, was reviewed to prevent potential theft of space rocket intellectual property.

One example in the news, a rocket parts purchase deception scheme was reported by SpaceX. Actions were taken by the courts to arrest the person selling the parts.

Space intellectual property theft is an increasing problem in the private space industry where it takes years, if not decades, to develop advanced spacecraft systems. Such data and information is immensely valuable given the man hours spent on invention, development, testing, and construction.

In recent years, Space Securities has noted operations with intent to enforce multiple country laws regarding various infarctions against property. Those caught could be extradited internationally and forced to answer to the specific countries courts and judicial systems, inclusive of prison time depending on the outcome. SPACE1 is expanding its satellite division to include Microsat and Smallsat

Microsats are small satellites manufactured by SPACE1 using micro technology components. These are significantly smaller than Smallsats, lower in  cost, but equal or more powerful for space applications.

The first SPACE1 ancestor Microsat was launched around 2011 during the Micro Space Program conducted by Humanoido. Microsats can be released by a SPACE1 Super Safety Rocket by the hundreds or potentially thousands. Satellites offered can now include temp, micro, small, cube, drop, recon, transformer, and full rocket size satellites. SPACE1 is currently working on new Nanosatellites that are that are considered to be the precursor to infinitesimally small quantum satellites.
