Space1 Ballute

SPACE1 Industries Ballute
SPACE1 Industries is experimenting with a reentry Ballute. The device acts as an incoming brake for reentry rockets and increases the accuracy of the return targeting position.

The ballute (from balloon and parachute) is a parachute-like braking device optimized for use at high altitudes. Invented by Goodyear in 1958, the original ballute was a cone-shaped balloon with a toroid shaped burble fence fitted around its widest point. A burble fence is an inflated structure intended to ensure flow seperation. This stabilizes the ballute as it decelerates through different flow regimes. Source: Wiki
