Space1 Delta Wing Flyer Views & Operation

A future flyer is upgraded for deeper missions in space

Space1 shows artistic conceptual views of the new Delta Wing Flyer DWF. The DWF is based on the success of Space1's space planes, gliding reentry vehicles that return astronauts to the Earth.

The DWF is built completely on the Earth and is taken into space attached to the Safety Rocket. At apogee, the DWF is mechanically released and the craft automatically returns to the Earth in a special gliding mode. The automatic gliding mode is

reprogrammed and dissipates kinetic energy of reentry without the need for heat shields or bulky devices. Delta Wing Flyers are intended as multipurpose. When attached to the Safety rocket at the time of rocket launch, they can serve to hold supplies, air,
water, and other necessities for life in the space station. Upon return to the Earth, the DWF is relatively empty for the most effective gliding ability.

Functions of the Delta Wing Flyer
* Functional support to the rocket space station
* Standard return vehicle
* Emergency station
* Storage vessel of air, food, supplies
* Functional part of the Safety Rocket offering flight stability
* Small outpost in space
* Increase to the size of the rocket space station
* Assist space walks at greater distances from the main station
* Flyer to inspect the main station
* Host vessel for space telescope, satellites
* Observation outpost in space
* As a shield during solar storms and supernova

Space1 Tiny Space Shuttle

Space1 continues preparation towards the launch of a tiny space shuttle, large enough to transport equipment and personnel into space, and small enough to be flown back to the Earth, recovered and reused.

The space plane is designed to be flown with or without a pilot. The shuttle is ideal in supplementing Space1's objective for space tourism.

This year, the Space1 fleet now expands to two developed shuttles and scheduled tests at the USA Spaceport.

The shuttle is a space plane and part of a rocket system to loft the plane into space whereupon the craft will reenter upon mission completion for the trip home. It remains to be seen exactly how many space tourist will ride inside the space plane.

The powerful engine is contained inside the rocket system, making the space plane extremely light and ideal for lofting and gliding. The plane uses NWM, Near Weightless Material, which is machined to conformity.

Space1 Secret Rocket Space Plane

Illustration - early concept rocket space plane at the fringe of troposphere space - NASA
Little has been released about Space1's secret rocket space plane. Blogs at the Big Brain web site rarely touched topic with space planes. (see Mini Space Shuttle http://humanoidolabs.blogspot.tw/2013/12/mini-space-shuttle.html)

Project RSP has remained in development a number of years and includes the design of space planes that will be taken to the outer fringes of special space by a powerful Space1 rocket, then clamp released for an exciting journey back to the Earth. RSP at this time is designed as a "pre-programmed" aerodynamic glider with enough energy to navigate back to a predesignated landing port. It's anticipated that E-pilots will fly the wind-swept craft taking tourists on a thrilling roller coaster type ride for the greatest Adrenalin rush. Space1 has built two test rocket space planes which are hangar-kept and awaiting their maiden voyages, perhaps sometime in 2016.
From birth to mothballs - NASA flew the shuttle from 1981 through July 21, 2011

The rocket space plane RSP is fully reusable and is designed as cold craft not reaching excess temperatures that the NASA space shuttle experienced during reentry. Thus, the RSP doe not require expensive and dangerous tiles. Manufacturing costs are kept minimal, ensuring nominal cost to space tourists.
