This wallpaper rendition characterizes the symbiotic union of plants and electronic machines that were created in the Lab by the author at SPACE1 to make a new race of intelligent and communicative Plant Cyborgs, for a new kind of space travel.
Plant-Cyborg Machine Race
Breaking News! Tuesday October 30th 2018
by Humanoido - Founder of SPACE1, Inventor of the Safety Rocket
"I’m studying and experimenting on plants (a hobby, along with tropical fish) and per-chance developed a small post-Cambrian or Ordovician mix of a plant with electronics to see what would happen with various galvanic responses under varying conditions and stimuli."
They say if you talk to plants, they will respond. Is it true or just an old wives tale or a draw from from mythology? The author investigated and set up an experiment with no expectations. The author was not prepared for the results of what some considered to be an epic result of a plant-electronics symbiosis experiment. An experiment like this is worthwhile because there’s a growing support of scientific evidence about plants as a life form. Scientists are said to have collected evidence that plants have consciousness. Some people contend that that plants are much more intelligent and more like us than most people think—capable of cognition, communication, information processing, computation, learning, and memory.
Plant Background
It’s well known that plants have a huge diversity and have been around for some 450 million years compared to primates of only 50 million years, therefore it’s not beyond the realm of possibilities that plants are more evolved than humans. In 1900 Jagadish Chandra Bose discovered that plants appeared to have a sensitive nervous system. The Indian scientist concluded plants feel pain. Plants treated with care and affection give out a different vibration compared to a plant subjected to torture he said. He was also the first to articulate that plants grow better when listening to music.
Cleve Backster was a specialist CIA interrogator who decided to try out his polygraph lie detector on his office plants. He discovered that plants create an electrical impulse when they are attacked in some way, say by a flame. Backster continued experiments and found plants reacted even when he only thought about hurting them. In effect, plants appear to have some kind of extra sensory perception. Myth Busters repeated these experiments and got the same results.
“In this century German scientist Frank Kühnemann found that when a leaf is cut the plant emits a chemical called ethylene. In affect the plant is crying out in pain, to warn other plants of the danger. The more the stress the louder the cry, Kühnemann found. The cry could be ‘heard’ by other plants that reacted by mounting defenses against the threat. The plants could communicate with each other, according to Kühnemann.”
Surgical Station
Note - For any success with implants, one needs to set up a surgical station to conduct advanced work on the plant body with minimal stress to the plant during the surgery and medical operations. It's best to create non-invasive sensors but there's a need for various implants to be most responsive and effective in performance and this is sometimes accomplished best with an implant.
Post Recovery Time
There is also a post recovery time after the surgery, a period depending on the type of plant, and specific plant surgical methods, for best success. Different plants have different resilience, immune systems, and recovery rates.
Project Method
This project used sensors, which elicited massive (amplified) responses from plant actions, indicative of plant speech, reactions to environment, eating, and habitual living - signifying an obvious new kind of life form when machine complimented! Though plants have remained with us over millennia, it's likely no one thought of plants in these new plant-cyborg terms.
Symbiant: Half Plant Half Machine for Space Travel
The author developed the new plant-cyborg life form with the intent of potential rocket space travel and long term planetary companionship based on a symbiant: half plant - half machine entity.
Light, Hydroponics, Suspended Animation
Such a plant-cyborg could be actively self sustaining on light and hydroponics during space travel. Without, some will go into a beneficial dry hibernation, a kind of suspended animation where they can be brought back to full life years later. Plants may be better suited for long term space travel to the stars than humans.
Light & Hydroponics - Star Ship Applications
For the first time in modern science we can ponder the possibility of having a Hydroponic Machine Plant Symbiant helping to pilot a star ship, a life form capable of real long term hibernation for extended duration space journeys to the stars.
Microcomputer Interface & Plant Speech Lexicons
Connecting the output stimuli response patterns to a microcomputer helps determine plant lexicon speech responses to rocket commands and interactions in space, or for conversations at home or other environments. It is well within the range of work developing Plant 101 - a limited language for communicating with symbiotic plants using a basic interface.
Inertial Reference System
Plants have a different inertial reference system compared to humans and their response times may vary. It can be as fast as the closing of a Venus Fly Trap appendage to grab a tasty fly or as slow as the bending of a flower to face the rising sun. Computers and interfaces can buffer these signals to more readily interact with humans.
Introducing a Brain & Plant Latency
The small computer is used as a brain for the plant that interprets the electrical signals coming from the plant sensors and it can speed up some of the inherent latency of plants. It would be possible to create a mobile app to connect and communicate. A voice connection speech recognition interface would allow one to talk to the plant in real time. Plants with speech seem far fetched but such a use is paramount in environments where plants and humans must work together, as in space flight or working together on other jobs.
Plants Based on Electrical Impulses
Plants can communicate with electrical impulses and have an electromagnetic radiation response that acts as a form of telepathy. Using the proper equipment, one can befriend plants and carry on new phases of exploring the realm of interactive communications with extra sensory perception.
Space Denizens & Aliens
SPACE1 mentions space denizen categories for rocket space travel which now include plant and symbiotic beings. Plant-Cyborg is a new coined name. It could be considered alien as the two world environments where humans or plants live are vastly diverse.
